When The Dashboard Looks Fine But The Numbers Feel Wrong
A Xero dashboard can look active even when the records underneath are messy.
Transactions may be coming through the bank feed, but not matched correctly. Customer invoices may be unpaid, duplicated or sitting in the wrong place. Supplier bills may be entered inconsistently. GST may be coded incorrectly. Payroll may be processed, but leave, super, or PAYG may not align.

The Areas I Check First
Before I give advice, I usually want to understand where the file is going wrong.
I may review bank reconciliations, GST treatment, payroll setup, employee records, supplier bills, customer invoices, opening balances, chart of accounts, old transactions and reports that do not match the business.
I also look for patterns.
If the same type of transaction is coded each month differently, the reports may be unreliable. If bank accounts have not been reconciled properly, the cash position may be wrong. If GST has been treated incorrectly, the BAS may need closer review.
Once we know where the issue sits, we can clean up the file in the right order.
Xero Support Before BAS, Payroll Or Tax Time
Xero problems usually become more stressful as a deadline approaches.
A BAS is due, but the GST figures do not look right. Payroll needs to be finalised, but the records are unclear. The tax return is coming up, but the profit and loss report does not make sense.
